If they gossip with you, they'll gossip about you.
The short-term excitement gained from 'did you hear about...' gets addictive, as does the need to be involved and inside the circle.
But the circle is sour.
Gossiping is such a negative quality it's worth the time spent avoiding it. It lowers your standards and surrounds you with negative energy.
That short-term thrill and feeling of inclusivity will never trump openness, trustworthiness and loyalty, especially if you're after long-term relationships with people worth something.
