I figured out some time ago that too much attention to detail was a major cause of my anxiety.
The more of a perfectionist I became the more I beat myself up and stopped sleeping properly due to worry and stress, giving anxiety and OCD a greater grip on my life.
When I let go by delegating more and appreciating that nothing in this world would ever be perfect, my mind benefitted from a sense of calm. I could sleep better knowing that things would still be OK, even if the attention to detail wasn’t perfect.
I’m not saying I do a shoddy job – far from it. I’m proud to live by high standards and always will. I just don’t beat myself up if something isn’t perfect.
